Over-weigh problems.The Inner Game Solution!

It is incredible how we are told that by taking a pill and doing nothing else we can lose weight and have a figure like a super model and not have to worry about being over weight again! So much so that the diet industries is worth billions. This confirms that we a re living in the age of instant gratification. If all this is true we have nothing to worry about but the fact is that there are more people today who run the risk of cutting their life span to half of mortality then ever before in the history of man kind. Problems like heart failure, diabetes, high blood pressure, depression, cancer and obesity are some of the results of over-weight problems.

But if all it take is to burn more calories than we eat, then there is no problem. The fact is not everyone can do it and keep the weight off. Ten there is more to over-weight problems then meets the eye. In this article I am going to talk about the inside game of losing weight and keeping it off.

First and foremost is our ATTITUDE! You might have heard of the ABC of Success? Well let me give you a brief intro. A stands for ATTITUDE. B stands for BELIEF. C stands for COMMITMENT. The funny thing is that if you attitude is right then belief and commitment will come easily. What is you attitude to your weight problem. Is it a over-weight problem or is it a problem that can be overcome. Why do you want to lose weight? Is it because you want to look like Claudia Sheffer for a date? What happens if you don't see results instantly. Will you give up? I think you get where I am going with this question talk. If you are in it for instant gratification then it will be hard to keep the weight off permanently.

Second is what do you EAT! Look, this is where it all starts. There is no one to blame but your self. It is important to understand that over-weight problems come from not only eating but emotional eating. That is eating not for the purpose of fulfilling your bodily needs but to fulfill your emotional needs. The solution to this difficult problem is find a substitute for the dealing with your emotions. Instead of stuffing your face when you feel down, get off your butt and do something physical. I guarantee you will feel better. There are some exercises that you could do to keep track and see patterns that cause you to eat unnecessarily. Keep a food journal. Keep track of what you eat, when you eat and how you feel before and after you eat. Begin to notice what are you buying. Read labels and contents. Start counting calories. Make conscious choices what you put into your mouth and start saying no to extra portions.

Thirdly, find a SUPPORT GROUP. Find a friends or spouse who share the some goals to support the over-weight problem and help each other reach desire goals. The importance of such a support system is essential in not only losing the weight but keeping it off permanently. If necessary keep your distance from people who offer you food even though you have repeatedly refused., even if that person might be your best friend. If it is your spouse then it is important sit down and work out a solution to everyone satisfaction. Being a part of a group of people who know what you are going through is priceless.

In conclusion, having a mentor or coach who can guide and encourage(even if it means kicking your butt) cannot be denied. I have personally tried to overcome my over-weight problems for 20 years but with little success until I joined a support group that held my hand every step of the way until I lost 90 pounds. The value in the support group is after the weight is off. Keeping it off is another ball game all together.
